Dr. Daichi Shimbo Appointed Director of Training and Education (TRANSFORM) Resource

The Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research announces the appointment of Daichi Shimbo, MD, as Director of the training and education resource, TRaining And Nurturing Scientists FOr Research that is Multidisciplinary (TRANSFORM), effective August 1, 2018. Dr. Shimbo is an Associate Professor of Medicine and a cardiologist specializing in hypertension and cardiovascular diseases and co-directs Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Hypertension Center. For the last several years, Dr. Shimbo has co-directed two components of TRANSFORM, the Patient-oriented Research (POR) colloquium and the KL2 Scholars Mentored Career Development program, and Director of the Columbia Summer Research Institute (CSRI). He will also serve as Principal Investigator on the Irving Institute’s KL2 grant. Dr. Shimbo succeeds Dr. Melissa Begg, who stepped down as Co-Director of the Irving Institute and Director of TRANSFORM earlier this year. The Irving Institute is delighted for Dr. Shimbo’s new role in directing the programs and services dedicated to recruiting, training and supporting clinical and translational investigators.
