Irving Institute Announces 2017 Irving Scholars

July 10, 2017

Recognizing the importance of training young clinical investigators, in 1987 Herbert and Florence Irving initiated the prestigious "Irving Scholars" Assistant Professor awards. Scholars are selected on the basis of research proposals that reflect independent, well-developed scientific initiative in clinical and translational investigation. These three-year awards provide substantial salary support, $60,000, allowing the Scholar more time for clinical investigation. The 2017-2020 Irving Scholars are:

Matthew R. Baldwin, MD, MS
"Frailty Endotypes in Survivors of Acute Respiratory Failure"
Herbert Irving Professor of Medicine at CUMC

Olena Mamykina, PhD
"Personalizing Behavioral Interventions in Type 2 Diabetes Using Self-Monitoring Data"
Florence Irving Professor of Biomedical Informatics

Martin Picard, PhD
"Profiling Mitochondrial Health to Understand Physiological Variability"
Herbert Irving Professor of Psychiatry

Simone Sanna-Cherchi, MD
"Genetic Studies in Posterior Urethral Valves"
