Irving Institute Pilot Awardee Carrie Shawber Receives ARPA-H Funding to Advance Rare Disease Diagnostics

Carrie Shawber, PhD (Irving Institute/Clinical Trials Office (CTO) Pilot Awardee, 2014), has received ARPA-H funding to accelerate the diagnosis of lymphatic disorders - conditions that often take years to identify. Her team’s CLARUM project aims to uncover new genetic drivers and develop accessible diagnostic tools for earlier, more accurate detection. By shortening the path to diagnosis, this work could enable faster access to targeted, FDA-approved treatments for patients with rare lymphatic diseases. The effort also seeks to expand national access to testing, improving outcomes for individuals facing complex and often life-threatening conditions.
