Rafael Lantigua, MD, to Lead Community Service Efforts at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons

Co-Director of the Irving Institute’s Community Engagement Core Resource, Rafael Lantigua, MD, has been chosen as the

founding director of the new Office of Community Service Programs. This initiative expands the commitment of VP&S to community service, with a focus on the Washington Heights/Inwood community, upper Manhattan, and parts of the Bronx.

A native of the Dominican Republic and faculty member at Columbia since 1980, Dr. Lantigua has devoted much of his work to bringing awareness to and improving the health conditions of the community.
