Metabolic Kitchen

This service is provided by the Bionutrition Research Core.

Overview

The Bionutrition Research Core (BRC) is equipped to support a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient research studies. The BRC’s bionutritionist is experienced in designing palatable metabolic and liquid formula diets that meet the macro and micronutrient specifications of various protocols. The BRC’s highly trained nutrition staff produces accurate, consistent, and meticulously controlled diets and is able to accommodate diverse testing schedules.

Eligibility

The service is open to the all researchers at Columbia University.

When to Request This Service

Contact the Bionutrition Research Core at least six weeks in advance of your grant/protocol submission.

$500 per study

* Prices are reviewed annually and are subject to change in future fiscal years. Studies will be charged the price in place at the time service is rendered.

  • A cost estimate for any work to be completed in the Bionutrition Research Core. All studies should receive a BRC budget from Heather before CRR approval.
  • Protocol-specific prices and budgets before submission for funding. Dr. Seid will also guide budgeting costs beyond FY25.

Highly accurate chemical analysis and calorimetry can be arranged with an outside vendor
