Multi-Site Trials and Research Opportunities
This service is provided by the Network Capacity.
Overview
Our Network Capacity team connects researchers at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) to studies, trials, and resources to support multi-site research proposed through regional and national networks. These networks include the Trial Innovation Network (TIN), the INSIGHT Clinical Research Network, and the National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C).
Trial Innovation Network (TIN)
The Trial Innovation Network is a collaborative national, collaborative network focused on operational innovation to make clinical trials more efficient. It was developed to address critical roadblocks in clinical trials and accelerate the translation of novel interventions into life-saving therapies. The goal of TIN is to not only execute trials better, faster, and more cost-efficiently but, importantly, to be a national laboratory to study, understand and innovate the process of conducting clinical trials itself.
The TIN offers the opportunity to request consultations and resources for multicenter clinical trials and studies. These are designed to help investigators:
- Develop proposals into protocols
- Enhance study operations
- Improve recruitment and retention
INSIGHT Clinical Research Network (CRN)
INSIGHT Clinical Research Network (CRN) is one of the largest urban clinical network in the nation. It brings together seven top academic medical centers in New York, NY and Houston, TX. INSIGHT maintains a limited data set that contains clinical data for approximately 23 million electronic health records with over 385 million encounters. INSIGHT CRN continues to link this clinical data with an expanding catalog of data linkages, including claims data (commercial and governmental) to support patient-centered research. With INSIGHT, you can:
- Access data and link datasets
- Recruit patients
- Engage stakeholders
- Utilize resources to support multi-site clinical trials
National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C)
The National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C) is a collaboration among the NCATS-supported Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program hubs, distributed clinical data networks (PCORnet, OHDSI, ACT, TriNetX), and other partner organizations. N3C aims to improve the efficiency and accessibility of analyses using a very large row-level (patient-level) clinical dataset, demonstrate a novel approach for collaborative data sharing, and speed treatments.
Eligibility
This service is available to all researchers, clinical trialists, study team members, and faculty at Columbia University.
When to Request This Service
The initial consultation service can be requested at any time there is interest in potentially accessing research support resources across regional and national networks.
Use of network resources will require additional lead time and should be requested at least two months prior to any grant or protocol submission deadlines. Services may also be requested for currently funded clinical trials.
For TIN protocol development, it will typically require at least six months for a study proposal to be developed for NIH submission. The timeline will be determined together with the Trial Innovation Network and Trial Innovation Center.
Cost
There is no cost for this service.
